Abdulrahman Kanoo School Diyar (ARKS) hosted the Director of the United Nations Information Centre in Manama, Mr Ahmed Ben Lassoued. This programme was part of Lower Secondary’s efforts to explore as a school MUN committee and educate the cohort about the United Nations roles and responsibilities. Mr Lassoued spoke about his 15 years of experience in communications and journalism, along the role he has held for some three years as Director, a field office of the United Nations Department of Global Communications, which provides service to Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
Our Lower Secondary students were deeply engaged in this enlightening session, which provided them with a unique opportunity to learn about the vital role the United Nations plays in global diplomacy and peacekeeping. The lecture included the presence of Mr. Faisal Al-Omari from the Ministry of Education, further highlighting the importance of fostering a global mindset within our youth.
Model United Nations (MUN) is a transformative experience for students, enabling them to develop crucial skills in public speaking, diplomacy, and critical thinking. It empowers them to better understand global challenges and encourages collaborative problem-solving. At ARKS, we are committed to providing our students with the tools to become active, informed global citizens, and establishing this programme within the school resonates our school core values of respect for oneself, others, and the community.
